The Descent- first 20 minutes.
The film opens with a view of mountains, their is a sound bridge of women laughing and screaming in the boat down a rocky waterfull it enhances how close the women are as friends and informs the audience that the women are active and sporty. The lighting is natural with the sound of the water enhanced to create a atmopshere for the audience. We then get a shot of a man and a little girl who shouts out 'mummy' this add's to tension as the audience worry what is about to happen.
As the 3 women fall down the waterfall it happens in slow motion this is forshadowing that can happen late in the film between the women. Music starts playing in the background it is non diegetic, the music is sad and slow this helps to add tension. The women continue to laugh with each other, we get a close up of the little girl smiling this effects the reader as we know something bad is about to happen but are unsual what is going to happen. We can tell by the way one of the woman and the husband of another woman look at each other that perhaps they are having an affair. The closenest between the little girl and her mum is shown.
When the family are in the car we hear diegetic sound of the car, we get a shot of the mother and daughter laughing and playing together and the father look ahead at the road this add's tension as now the audience realise something is about to happen. As the two cars hit each other the sound of the cash is enhance this shows the audience, the road they are driving on is surronded by trees. The camera then zooms out on the car to show the effect on the car.
